Dr. Sandra Martin
Sandra Martin, Ph.D. has been working as a Registered Psychologist in Alberta since 1990 and has been in private practice since 1998. She specializes in marriage and family therapy.
Sandra’s experience has grown through her work at the Calgary Counselling Center, Hull Child and Family Services, the Eastside Family Center, the U of C Family Therapy program and Woods’ Homes. Over the past 20 years her private practice has been in collaboration with a number of family physicians. Through this practice, she has also added the sub-specialty of Aviation Psychology.
Sandra’s professional background, life experiences and personality traits have resulted in wonderful success in working with clients. She is compassionate, caring, and enjoys bringing humor and a “lightness” to the therapeutic process. She concentrates on developing skills and generating practical solutions that clients can use to handle challenges. She takes what people bring to therapy to enhance their strengths and help them move forward with hope. To do so, she uses a wide range of interventions, including cognitive behavioral strategies, solution focused ideas, hypnosis and EMDR.
Sandra is married and has two adult sons. She has enjoyed living most of her life in Calgary and attended the U of C to achieve her academic credentials. Sandra believes that the success of therapy is based on having a strong therapeutic relationship between you and your therapist. She works hard at making therapy a successful process, and hopes that you will consider her assistance in your own journey of change.
